After clerking for the Mississippi Supreme Court following his graduation from law school, Mr. Mills started work with Judge “Red” Pyle where he began developing his specialty in the area of municipal annexation. Now, having litigated dozens of annexation cases from all corners of the state at both the trial and appellate levels, Mr. Mills has literally helped shape our state’s law in this area. Mr. Mills enjoys an AV Preeminent Peer Rating of 5/5.0 on Martindale Hubbell lawyer rating system, and he has been named one of the nation’s best lawyers in the areas of zoning and land use. He also currently serves as general counsel for the City of Ridgeland, the City of Byram and the City of Gluckstadt. In his spare time, he enjoys fly fishing for trout and spending time with his five grandchildren.
Following his 2005 graduation from Mississippi College School of Law where he was heavily involved in Moot Court and served as the Editor of the law student newspaper, Mr. Scanlon spent a year as a judicial law clerk at the Mississippi Supreme Court for Justice George Carlson, followed by two years of practicing exclusively in civil litigation representing individuals in negligence and tort actions. Mr. Scanlon has a current focus in municipal and local government law, zoning, land use, and annexation, but also enjoys a varied practice outside of those areas. He currently serves as general counsel for the City of Ridgeland, the City of Byram, and the City of Gluckstadt. Mr. Scanlon also works as the city prosecutor in Byram Municipal Court, trying criminal misdemeanors and violations of city ordinances. Mr. Scanlon has taught Appellate Advocacy and Legal Writing as an adjunct professor at his law school.
Mr. Giddy is a 2021 cum laude graduate of the Mississippi College School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Giddy served as a DUI Division Legal Clerk in the Office of the Attorney General, and a Legal Intern for the Mississippi Department of Transportation. Mr. Giddy practices in the areas of municipal and local government law, general litigation, and appeals.
